I am talking about William James Sidis, doesn’t ring a bell, right? Not your fault, the media called him as the failed genius since he did not contribute his Knowledge to the world. The Man was an introvert and loved spending time alone.

Hated attention and wanted a quiet, peaceful and happy life. The Man had an IQ of 260, which surpassed the IQ level of Isaac Newton, which was 190 and Albert Einstein of 160.

Let’s get to know him a little better by analyzing his early life and achievements. C’mon, we are talking about the smartest man that ever lived, you will be amazed when you get to know him better:

Early Life

William at an early age

The boy was called the child prodigy and made the headlines of the New York Times in the 20th century. Born in 1898 in Boston, the boy could read newspapers at the age of 2.

Mastered six different languages at the age of 6 and entered Harvard University at the age of 11. This genius invented his own language and wrote the constitution of Utopia when he was 8.

Family

Father of William

Both the parents of Williams were very smart themselves. The father was a well-known psychologist, and the mother was a doctor. According to Amy Wallace, who is the research specialist, in this case, said that Williams parents are very pushy. The parents brought all sorts of maps, books and other devices so that their son could learn more and be more brilliant.

University Life

William during university days

At the age of 11, he entered Harvard. The researcher Amy Wallace says that his life as a university student was not pleasant. He was teased for being different and was bullied a lot of times. After five years, he graduated and badly wanted a life as a normal man.

He ran from home and hid from the public attention. He moved from city to city and did jobs that very basic. During this time, he wrote a number of books, all under different names. Guess we will never know how many books he has written since he never revealed his real name.

How He Got Recognized After So Many Years?

The genius who was in hiding till 1937, got revealed when New York Times had sent a female reporter to investigate the case. The female reporter acted as a friend, so that she could know what happened to him all these years.

The article was published, and it was a huge hit. William could not believe the description he saw of him in the article. The article made him sound like he was suffering from depression and was crazy. William sued New York for false accusations, and he won.

Death

Shortly after this incident, the genius died in 1944. The researcher of this case, Amy Wallace says that genius indeed lead a happy life. Though there were constant media attention and the continues pressure to contribute to the world, he successfully escaped that and led a life as a normal Man.

Bottom Line

I personally believe that people have the right to live their own terms. Society can’t decide that for us. Even though he was a genius, it’s not a law that he has to contribute to society and be on constant media attention. In my opinion, what William did was perfect, since being happy is the greatest achievement of all.
